In 2002, I came into regeneration, nature-based solutions, holistic sustainability, biomimicry, and system dynamics. What a mouth full! Why do we make the choices we make as sustainable innovators? Well, we all have different backgrounds, some more technical than others.
Most people have a hard time understanding, because they know little about biology, physics, economy or good/bad technologies. Let alone what happened in our industrial era that's too toxic. And what is luckily changing now toward regenerative, decentralized technology. Going around the world without fuel in your autonomous ship.

Perhaps this blog about natural wisdom and biomimetics - choosing open loops or closed loops -helps you find truth and sustainable innovations for YOUR country. In YOUR climate zone and to solve YOUR problems with climate adaptation of smart cities, food security, wildfire prevention and more. We are a funny human species, but only when we dive deeper, we understand more.
ALL is energy and frequency IN planet earth. We spin with 1000+km/h through a universe after all. And when we see sunrise, in reality we are ffffffffaaaaaaallllllliiiiiiinnnnnnnggggg.
Oalala. What a rollercoaster life is... Hahahahahahaha...
Nature is math. Geometry. Spatial Relations. Our senses are fooling us! But our senses could also guide us when we were still living in the countryside. Google Maps is not that old! We always just "felt our life path" by tuning into the earth grids. The leylines, the cosmological axis that is protected by Unesco World Heritage Center in Yogayakarta. Like dolphins and geese do. If you want to know how and what, it's best to see films like "Sand Talk" by first nation Australian professor Tyson Yunkaporta. Or this book Autopoiesis and Cognition (Gaia Theory) by biologists Varela and Maturana. Sciences of Living Systems are not only biology though, also all other systems that grow, decline, and morph. A planet, an economy, a society, a village, etc.
What's Planetary Math? This is the geometric reality of our planet with us humans IN it.

How do we - homo sapiens - stay upright IN a planet spinning so fast? That's in our ears, connected to brain, heart, guts. Microbes and especially the diatoms keep us alive and connected to all the other water and intelligence IN our planet sphere.
In the SYNERGY energy story away from megalomaniac windmills and solar farms, we gave you many free energy and huge energy-efficiency solutions. We gave you biomimetic math and mechanical engineering professors who proved decades ago already that we do things silly. We gave you abundance of food because we can grow 1000+ edible species. And we can do it on a tiny piece of land because nature is space-efficient as long as you embrace diversity!
Nature only uses a couple of abundant materials like carbon to build cellulose out of light with photosynthesis. And diatoms - tiny algae that turn light into oxygen in their glass-silicon houses and land in our lungs when we breath - are our informers. In nature, life informs life where to go next for healthy solutions. Humans found diatoms in labs, in microscopes, in controlled environments.

And I wonder again... Mike and I are permaculturists, food foresters, ecological intensification in a river country. We know we have troubles in The Netherlands because we get all the "pollution = nutrients" from the whole of the EU. End of the river. Hugely logical. Once, it made us Dutch rich and we became a colonial, sea-faring nation. Now, it makes us polluted because of industrial toxic chemistries. Only this summer we wrote another ESG report for a Dutch precision farmer team. My next blog will give you details about that one.
Nature & Tech, and self-seeding, fertile seeds. No hybrids.
Nature Based Solutions in Indonesia & Egypt
Mike and I know about the rivers in the air. We LIVE them at the Meuse. We know about Indonesian wetlands helping sponge cities to prevent flooding. We come from Indonesia! We visited projects of sinking villages that restored their ecosystems and "created freshwater" with temperature difference instead of extracting water. All prevention. All good news!
We visited nature-based solutions projects of mangrove restoration, where the economy became thriving because of "vegan kroepoek"- a food normally made from shrimp - and closed loop ponds. No pollution by uneaten food, no need for anti-biotics, no excess of fish poo.
How was wetlands restoration done here? SIMPLEST way. With sediments and a bamboo wall in the sea. Dormant seeds rekindled. No expensive planting. Just TIME | SPACE | PLACE doing its work with professional design in the lead. It is an Indonesian-Dutch projects from holistic water experts "Building with Nature". We went on to write their consortium strategy in 2020 for profit success too. I was asked to be a Blue-Green Economy expert for the EU. That's how work evolves. One thing leads to the next when you build your expertise in practice.
Every company, project, whatever else need multiple benefits, including human health, abundance of local resources, and money profit.
We also interviewed the other holistic Dutch nature-based solutions team of The Weather Makers. They are working in the Sinai Desert, a completely different ecosystem. They use the same method, sediments. They calculated with AI geometry-math that in history the Sinai had been green. All the sediments were now in a shallow lake. They dredge the lake and bring the sediments back onto land. This team also calculated that if the Sinai is green again, hurricanes in large parts of Asia, Africa, and Europe will calm down and the Mediterranean sea will cool down, become less acid. Good results. But it does need monitoring.
With a Confident Heart
My career is in her last years. 7 - a holy number - to be exact. After decades of healthy ecology & growth economics education, technical biomimicry innovations. We visited the first autonomous island team in Europe, El Hierro. Writing about it. Helping the team. Growing the many seeds of repair, restoration, and system dynamics in a local scope economy. In 2020, the World Bank started to call it all nature-based solutions. My dear friend Javier Morales was one of my big ecology-economy-knowledge catalysts. You will find yours in Asia or Europe too.
What's next for Abundance? Well, AI and energy-efficient algorithms are setting the scene right now. No planet-heating big data-centers! And since we have been part of several AI, AR and tokenization over blockchain teams doing our wildfire project from 2023-2024, we will most probably stay in the overlap of digital with physically healthy environments.
Architecture teams still fascinate me. Architects understand the invisible bridges best. Smart, healthy cities. Our Dutch-German projects with healthy buildings from 2018-2022. 13 million extra investment and then made profitable in year 2 because of interconnected budgets.
In nature, everything is interconnected and even accountants can learn from "being nature". Hahahahahahahahaha. Of course, we still live in our "simple life" Limburg permaculture community with the landscapers and tech architects of Stichting Phien.
Off-grids. Food forestry. Aware with energy because you have only as much as nature givess you at a certain moment. 50 families involved. We have our farm-home again next year when Derk is ready building his off-grid home on the land.

Nature's Math Team
One of our projects now is with a Nature's Math Team. Geometree by professor and inventor Johan Gielis. Biology. System Dynamics. The project is called "Inequality, Diversity and Waves". The invisible Moebius bridges into infinity and regeneration. It will be an AI of course, written by the team that proved true hyper-energy-efficient math for 40,000 natural phenomena.
I learned about the book "Inventing the Circle" through my brother in law, a professor of botany and toxicology in UCC, Cork, Ireland. He was a colleague of Johan in Antwerp. The Spatial Relations Math book about Superformula came out in 2003. And its knowledge about decentralized, interconnected, supershaping zero-points changed the world of sciences and technology. I encountered the Superformula again when I started abundancing with the zero emission teams - who now made the Goddess of the Sea Hydrogen Ship - from 2013-2016.
There are 2 ways to apply these Generalized Moebius Math Listings. Physical, it might be very handy for the projects I describe here and also for the synergy energy grid projects, healthy architecture projects, and IOT projects in smart healthy cities. Johan is a math-master in showing us the "underlying simple geometry patterns of nature". The concern from scientists about IOT is about overheating bodies, but when you make the waves with electromagnetics like nature does, our species will most easily adapt. But there's more.
The supershaping-math has been used intensively for Light & Sound. The truth of our planet. Photosynthesis mimicking diatoms who turn light into oxygen. Photosynthesis mimicking trees, turning light into cellulose and sugars. Alchemy! Mimicking mushrooms, MAKING water by condensation (temperature difference), so you can trade it with the tree root for sugars.
In weekly conversations, I get the latest news from the Nature's Math -teams and will try to explain it's huge significance and biomimetics to young people wanting to turn these Spatial Relations Math into healthy innovations. DOING is caring.
In our talks since 2020, Johan has showed me many quantum truths beyond Newton. And I was never a fan of Newton and Descartes (400 years ago, they made us go from natural biorythms to mechanical clock-time and combustion engines) to be honest. Too harsh, non-degrading chemistry, and too robotic. I like Living Systems more. The most astonishing ones?
entropy is not degradation but full regeneration (Swiss quantum math, 2018)
syntropy (the +) doesn't exist yet, we don't know how it works (for me in permaculture, it's YinYang and the loops of river waves cleaning themselves with or without oxygen)
we don't know what gravity is yet (Polytecnico di Torino powered off-grid house with gravity, what do you mean we don't know yet? I FEEL gravity or the lack of it in the sea? How hard can it be?)
But it IS important that designers and engineers start to understand the roots of Planet Math. Because it will give you full design freedom back. Just like Studio Baan and Venturial did with circular economy materials and the vacuum bubble of the pistol shrimp machine, pulling everything very energy-efficiently through the sound-barrier.
Everyone Just Has One Role to Play
What is my role in all of our ecology-economy teams? I write ESG/SDG reports and mostly do the JUMPING and explaining. I jump from sector to sector, metamorphose budgets, write consortiums business models, and do some WHY-HOW-WHAT here and there.

The complexity stays complex and technical. Most of us will not be able to hold airplanes in the air with Nature's Math and System Dynamics. But the innovation is necessary for airplanes without emissions. Like the Porrima with just a hydrogen cell as battery and stabilizing the abundant free energy around the airplane.
I sometimes try to be techie. I say funny physics things like: It's just helical DNA strands with 2 inverse spectrums. Temperature and pH for instance. Or time = space. It's the same in quantum but they move in another flow-direction direction and are each other's feedback loop. But then, of course, the technical folks laugh in my face and say what they always said in my plasma-vacuum company too when I told them to buffer energy of hot plasmas and go energy-efficient.
Be imaginative, I say! Be an inventor! I always lived my life and work that way! Learning.
Go from batch to loop machines? Buffer in an extra-tight skin? Make pipes pump helically? Use porous, cooling materials, or conductive materials? Don't go for looks but for interconnected multi-functional? Can we learn from forests how to do it? Puzzle every diversity together with an aim for healthy and energy-efficient? Spatial Math?
If you WANT to find it and are not afraid of change, you'll find it.
Reinvent YOURself too
"Why did I leave the plasma and vacuum of IHI Hauzer with hugely fascinating trips to Japan and China to reinvent myself in sustainability and environmental?" you ask. I'm thinking about it often these days. I think it was the lack of ambition of my colleagues! They always told me "it is not so easy D." and "the customer doesn't ask for energy-efficient or green or blue without water extraction." Well, the customers ask it now!
We are only 11 years after I left IHI Hauzer (2014) and the customer is yelling for energy-efficient algorithms and designs! Give me energy efficient! Give me healthy for my grandchildren! And IHI Hauzer itself must have problems right now with Dutch permits and company expansion. The energy-grid congestion is the biggest problem Dutch companies have for their economy and innovations in such a small country. Small space. No nature. Just tech.
If you want tech, I can help you to a certain extent or send you on to my network of math and AI inventors. If you want imagination, you are with me in the right place. That I possess in 1000s of ways! Interconnected solutions! But also beyond what we know now and think "normal".
And those stories are my next step. Imaginative science fiction. Adventurous with a happy ending. or an open end. That's nature after all. Another 5 billion years until the sun dies. Not robots, come on! Who wants a robot in their bed?
Living Systems! With species as helpers!
Healthy, REAL, imaginative futures. Like in this story. Hope in Action. It all starts with action after all. Never ever ever complain or hang into your shitty feelings! Take a DEEP breath, jump out of it into the light and dance dance dance the abundance! My motto? You better accept it, feel 360 degrees around you and get walking again. training yourself again to feel more...
Nature, time and freedom are waiting for YOU too! Life in the adventurous lane!
Who wants neon and artificial, when you can have... nature... Be a curious being on a journey.
