Greek Math, Myth & Magic

Peloponnese, Greece is a place of special light. When I go for a sunrise on Blue Beach, the mountain colors pink. All artists know it. Many festivities take place around the Greek-Orthodox and I wonder and wonder...

Fritjof Capra was my biology-cosmology-physics teacher. The famous writer of the TAO of Physics and the Web of Life. Biological Quantum Wonder and human size. Our method for redesigns of healthy areas came from this was of thinking. Ecosystem thinking in which humans are part of nature. Living in villages, connecting to surroundings.

Free Energy. Free Food. A livelihood vision.

However, the world in cities is not ready yet. No one seems to understand smaller, interconnected biology anymore. Labs have replaced atmospheric thought. Concrete (just sand and water) has hardened our behavior. For Mike and me, a healthy city is a cluster of autonomous villages. Close what you need most. People know each other, care and support.

But we just passed the middle of time in 2012. The Year Zero. 5 billion years since our fast-spinning planet came alive with a whisper. Another 5 billion years until the sun dies. Young generations take their time to reinvent humanity with computers as their helpers. With biology-based algorithms. Energy-efficient like a whisper. And beating like a heart in steady rhythms, frequencies, and vibrations.

My Wonder

My wonder these days is about TIME. Greek language is doing much for me and my understanding of how sciences lost the way some 400 years ago and refound their way recently. Auto Kinito (pronounce avto) is a vehicle. Self-moving. But who is moving? The vehicle interconnected to other cars (Elon Musk's plans)? Including the person IN the vehicle? Including the kinetic wind over antennas AROUND the vehicle (Nikola Tesla)?

If you learn to translate biology to technology with biomimicry, you shift the lenses to include or exclude. We only look at flows, dynamics and kinetics. We solve urgent modern problems with whatever we find inside the lens. We innovate, design, and engineer.

Quantum says time and space are the same, just full spectrums in inverse directions. That's funny! It's like temperature and pH in a human body. Inversely connected. Quantum says time is not linear but helical, just like DNA strings. Still funnier! I taste the words, find the concepts, and try to make an image in my mind. Time = Space, inverse, both... Hmmm....

Tell me in the comments what you think about all this... I'm a curious girlie!

Spirituality & Religion

Spirituality has never been a big thing for me. My parents were raised Catholic and Protestant and from an era when they said: "twee geloven op een kussen, daar slaapt de duivel tussen". Translated: two religions on one pillow and the devil sleeps in between. My mum and dad got many visits from both priest and vicar about babies, women's duties, etc.

But my mum is a strong woman. She decides when where what. Autonomous TIME | SPACE | PLACE.

Then, around 2002 up to the middle of time - 2012 - and beyond, I started deep meditation to solve some of my women's health issues. I had learned about the middle of time in 2002, when the documentary maker and I volunteered together in an international development organization for Chile. I started having epiphanies, big Eurekas, and I became hugely interested.

How do Eurekas and "biased truth" work in our brains?

We have BIAS. I know that. We trigger constantly because of our mirror neurons. But how does everything puzzle together in our night and how can we have Eurekas about things we never heard about rationally? I woke one morning with Pascal's Triangle in my head although I'm definitely not a mathematician and had never heard about all this before. Hihihi.

Me and math? In my first big job age 25 as a business unit manager in Amsterdam in between the heavy crane and transport guys, I needed the finance department badly. For me, a zero more or less... I just couldn't think like that. but during life you learn when you are open to all.

Spatial relations have always come easier to me. Geometry fascinates me. I love architecture and design and I "feel" rooms and spheres and "thick air" you can cut with a knife when arguments took place. During my science journey, I found out that microbes such as diatoms regroup with our thoughts. Nothing stands alone in space. All is interconnected and "leaning into" each other mathematically with Moebius Math. Viruses mutate that way. And we metamorphose too.

No day is the same, no night unused for healing and "tabula rasa". Cleaning the page.

Focus on Modern Greece, Old Greece

For this post, let's park all that sacred geometry math science for a bit, and focus on Plato's Cave. The light and shadow allegory was made here in Peloponnese. Plato wrote it to compare the effect of education (παιδεία) and the lack of it on our nature. The Greek word physis can be considered the equivalent of the Latin natura. And it means to grow, to become. Nurture more than nature and fixed genes if you look at it from a sciences perspective.

It soothes me. Growing, becoming, I know how that works. Our planet becomes what it wants to become. People become what they want to become. Maybe Shakespeare should not have said "to be or not to be" but "to become or not to become". Keep growing, be open, keep learning.

My beloved Peloponnese crystal and marble caves inspired Plato! Dark and Light and TIME=nature from a Greek philosophical perspective. If you consider Capra and biology to be spontaneously arising from essence, you quickly understand what's artificial and what is not. Wikipedia says this: "Another opposition, particularly well-known from the works of Aristotle, is that of physis and techne – in this case, what is produced and what is artificial are distinguished from beings that arise spontaneously from their own essence, as do agents such as humans."

But I wonder about practical stuff when I think about TIME. Why for Greek people is the date of Christmas always Dec 25 but the dates of Easter vary with sometimes over a month? Is Jezus' story every year different? He was older in 2024 than 2025 or younger when he died?

No, of course not! It has to do with French Philosopher Descartes and engineer Newton and how they changed the clock from Kairos (timing) to Chronos (mechanical time) around 400 years ago. Let me ponder a bit more. Taste it. Smell it. Kairos is also weather. REAL timing. The future animals feel when they predict their boss is coming home. The future they sense when a tsunami is coming. I throw my head back and howl with the Peloponnese jackals.

I sense nature. I AM nature. And you?

Avto Kinito. Moving together. Living together. Dying together.

Our planet is a vehicle of geometry math and "leaning into the wind". And our human stability is in our ears.

Although our head is spinning faster than our feet mathematically.

Hmmm... this is stuff for poetry, not for system dynamics math that keeps airplanes in the air and sends rockets to the moon and to Mars. I'm sooooooo glad I'm a woman...

Peloponnese Living

In our FB group with 84,000+ members bridging Greek-International cultures, we host people from all over. religion is never an issue. But we do adapt to Greek culture and sensitivities. It's Greek land, their culture, their choice how to identify. Their choices of economy, windmills or not, sea restoration and vegan leather from kelp forests, or polluting open fish farms. Not my choices. I have to tell it to myself over and over. MY work is Dutch for Dutch soil and water situation underneath the sea level. Different climate. Different. And soooooo the same in industrial megalomania.

I do wonder a little why Greeks want to bring so much Americanism, Santa Claus, and Halloween to their local villages, but well, that's me. I like Greek Gods & Goddesses much more.

Quantum says time and space are the same, just inverse geometry-math directions.

Both feet firmly on the ground, I can tell you that Greek Christmas is kind of the same as everywhere. Loads of food and family. But I like January 6 as a hidden gem. It is a special end of the festive, reflective season. In our Catholic and Protestant Christhood it is the 3 Kings we celebrate on Jan 6 and nowadays, it's mainly about Christmas trees disappearing from the living rooms again. However, in Greek-Orthodox culture, it is The Festival of Light. The Epiphany, or Theophany, commemorating the baptism of Christ in the Jordan River.

This Jan 6 festival includes significant cultural elements:

1. Blessing of the Waters: Churches hold a ceremony where a cross is thrown into the sea or a river, and young men dive to retrieve it as a sign of blessings for the year. It is a beautiful festival and mesmerizing spectacle of local families diving for the cross into the marina. Procession. Priest on boat. Singing. Dancing. And of course, eating.

2. Feasting: Similar to Christmas, families gather for festive meals, often including seasonal fish dishes, symbolizing Christ.

3. Cultural Events: The day also includes various local customs and parades, highlighting Greek traditions and community spirit.

Together, these celebrations emphasize family, faith, leaning into uncertainty, and the importance of family and community in Greek Orthodox culture. It is the Light returning again after the Dark days of borning, mourning and diving deeper into being Orthodox-Christian.

Which has never been a very light-hearted religion whichever way you look at the 3 styles of Christhood and differences of Catholic, Protestant and Orthodox. But light returns by boat.

Christmas = Xmas

For me, Christmas is just Xmas but when I write that in our Peloponnese Living group on Facebook, many people correct me and say: keep Christ in the Christmas, Desiree! However, I always understood that Xmas comes from Greek. X is pronounced as Ch in Greek, so I honestly thought that Xmas had its origin there.

And so you see, there's no need to have long toes about what I express online. We are still living in a huge Babel Tower and my blogs try to give you a little neutral natural light at the end of whatever tunnel you and I and others are living in. For biomimicry innovators who want like me "healthy & immune system" and also for others.

Not for "truth", that's mainly "biased by culture" but for seeing, sensing, smelling, tasting, and hearing more...

Explore more, my friends, dive deeper, that's all I can advise you right now in this world of madness, going to Mars. Trying to impress each other with warfare, fake Rolex, fake smiles, and make-madness. Emerge. Let's focus on what enfolds in front of our feet. Take a step. Siga siga. Step by step. Anchor your legacies. And take a step more.

And if you don't explore more out of mere curiosity or for your work in health and environment, you can do it just to prevent Alzheimer. Making new neuro-connections every day. Not just within you head. Go cross and upside down with your body too. Do the cross-games with your arms and legs like children do. Write with both hands. Hold a mirror to your math formulas. Do the INVERSE... Brush your teeth with your left hand...

It all helps to stay healthy, alert, and aware of more... much more and more... abundance...
